    Question.

    We have a red-tailed boa at our store. She's only a few months old. My question is when they are younger are they supposed seem bloated... Like she isn't like the baby snakes I handled before. She seems bloated from like a little more than half way down her body. Like there is trapped air. Other than that, she's very active and very beautiful.

    Here she is ::

    Re: Question.

    I'm no expert on Boa's by any means but I have read the "do snakes f*** thread" and I know from that, it is possible. Try putting it in a warm bath and let it relax to see what happens. I am not trying to be funny.

    Re: Question.

    Boas are a little more "square" in the body that pythons. Pythons seem to have a more rounded shape... makes them look chunkier

    The boa may seem a little bloated when you hold her because she looks skinnier than a python when you aren't holding her. I'd say it's an illusion... but that's what I get from the picture. Not sure.

    Did she eat a large meal in the last week or so? If they eat large meals, they tend to look a little more bloated than pythons, again due to their square shape.

    Re: Question.

    Check to see if there is a uriate blockage. A gentle pressure from her stomach towards her vent may expel anything she can't poop out herself.

    She's definitely more square then round, but it's not that she looks chunkier, it's when pressing her belly a little that she feels like there is air in the belly. But she's eaten some big meals, so I'm sure she's read to poo. Which brings me to my answer to the other person down below.

    do snakes fart thread? wtf? don't know how she is mating because she's one and only in there? Not trying to be funny either but like ... WHOA there. But a nice soak may do her some good. Never really thought about it.

    Yeah, I'm glad you posted because I haven't seen any poop from her for a few so that may be why. Imma take a stop in tomorrow and take her out. Soak her and give some pressure to see if she'll go. Because this girl has been eatin' pretty good. Three fuzzies a week. She's a doll. Doesn't seem to bother her though. She's our little devil. I want to buy her so bad!
