You're right! Its stress free and harmless to the snake! I can laugh at that! If I dangled my kid out the window like that, everyone would be screaming at me and saying what a bad father I was but with a snake its okay! I guess snakes have no feelings! Thats the only way I can justify the logic!

You have every right to post whatever pictures you want, and expect whatever comments you want to expect, however it is a public forum and you're opening yourself up to both compliments and criticism.

I'm not going to bash you or say you're a horrible reptile owner, is is after all your choice and as you said, I'm sure the snake is going to be just fine. However, anyone who reads anything around here knows the battles the reptile nation has been fighting to maintain our ability to keep these animals and the amount of damage that one bit of negative press can do to hurt the cause. No, you probably didn't hurt your snake, and nothing bad came of it. Thats good. But was it a risk to some degree? Of course it was. It wasn't as safe as having it securely contained and therefore it was a risk, however marginal the difference may be.

It is a funny picture, no question. But the people here have reasons for being the way they are, and they are not without merit. After all, it is never the snakes that cause these issues, it is the actions or irresponsibility of the keepers.

Well said! Don't display pics publicly if you don't want to hear what the public has to say!

Let alone your lackadaisical attitude to proper care and husbandry, the first thing that upsets me here is the obvious lack of attention being paid to operating the vehicle (assuming your driving). I see accidents all the time from people doing moronic things like this while driving. Be glad you didnt cause an accident, and 5 m.p.h. is more than sufficient to kill someone with a car.

That's what I figured too... I also think it's a very cute picture, and a cute snake. I've taken many pictures with my snakes that could look bad, when really they were in NO danger whatsoever - like when I posted one of my kitten sniffing the snake, and somebody lectured me on the danger of letting them near each other. I've had cats, dogs, rodents & reptiles for most of my life, and haven't ever lost one to another... so I know how to manage multiple species, and was literally inches away to intervene if necessary. Anyway, I think yours was an adorable shot!

One hand on the snake and one hand on the cell phone to snap the shot! How can you have control of the vehicle? GOOD POINT!

I've got a few... thought about posting them, and then changed my mind after realizing it could be mis-interpreted or criticized. Like that kitten picture I just mentioned, which I KNEW would get a negative comment or two - but I didn't care on that one, because it was so darned cute.

I'm new to snakes, but not to internet forums - in fact, I'm a moderator on one of the biggest. So I know what to expect, and have developed a thick skin over the years... LOL.

Meh... I drive a stick-shift, and have taken many cell pics while driving, sometimes at high (70+) speeds. Sounds worse than it is, when in reality it's no more "distracting" or dangerous than changing the radio station - or lighting a cigarette, grabbing a french fry, etc. My cell has a one-touch camera button, which I know by feel & don't even have to take my eyes off the road. Just sayin'...

Very cool picture, very cool snake. I say it is your snake, do what ya want, wear it for a jockstrap if you want.
