Yeah, I was pretty sure it wasn't quite that easy. Kevin seems to have a lot of stuff that he doesn't give the recipe for.

The red belly is some form of dying the ball pythons belly. The belly will not stay like that. I have heard of people using iodine baths which turns there belly red.

I heard it's a Lesser x Yellow Belly, but the Lesser needs the 'hidden platty daddy gene'

A lesser with the platty daddy hidden gene would then be a Platty Daddy.

Unless Kevin tells all, we will more than likely never know....

I'm pretty sure that's not a natural trait and Pulcher is right about they dying thing. Though I don't think dying a living animal in iodine would be too healthy..

I'm no expert by any means, and I'm probably wrong here, but I thought it needed a pair of hidden genes to be a platty daddy. More info on this hidden gene would be appreciated.

I have heard iodine baths are given to wc babies, to remove mites and ticks.

There is another thread open right now about the platty daddy. check it out here: http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...d.php?t=101923

Nope daddy complex is as so, as told by Ralph Davis:

"Daddy Gene" Carrier - Visual Normal x Lesser Platinum = Platinum aka Platty Daddy
"Daddy Gene" Carrier - Visual Normal x Butter = Butter Daddy

Platty Daddy aka Platinum x Normal (No Special Genes) = Lesser Platinums & "Daddy Gene" Carriers that are Visual Normals.

Well maybe for Ticks, but that wouldn't make sense to do it for Mites, mites come from Asia and do not naturally occur in Africa.

That, and the link to the thread posted by Turbo Serpent, suggest that a lesser has to be homozygous 'hidden gene' to be a platty daddy.

But my original point was, and perhaps I didn't word it very well, was that a yellow belly x lesser that is het 'hidden gene' was used to create the Red Spectrum. i don't know if this is true, and as previously stated in this thread, Kevin is not currently revealing that information so no-one knows for sure.
