Re: Snakes can get worms ?
I am guessing since you didn't ask what to do you know what to do
But I have read a few interesting things that I am not so sure are true so maybe some one else can chime in and do a fact or fiction here.
1) It's possible if the cage is not kept clean larvae and worms could form in the bedding.
2) Snakes can get internal parasite from external parasites but also from feeding on a rodent that has internal parasites.
and 3) F/T can help decrease the chances of parasites if kept in a freezer for a few weeks killing off the nasties.
I am interested as well to see if these are true or not, especially #3.

Re: Snakes can get worms ?
If there were worms in the feces, she needs to go to a vet and get a fecal float done to find out what kind of parasites she has so you can start treatment. I hope you practice strict quarantine if you have more than one snake, or they will likely all have to be treated. Where/who did you get that snake from?

I have had her for about 4 months had her in quaratine for about 2 of them i talked to the vet today and he said to bring her in . Im going to bring her in this week . He also told me since she is in her own tub its very rare to any other snake to get it as long as i wash my hands every time i hold my other snakes which i do ! She would have to be housed with the other snakes for any of the to get it ! I will keep you all updated on what's going on . He said he would not worry to much and made me feel a lot better

do you feed live or frozen/thawed? Worms often come from rodents. Ive had this happen to me once before. There are also certain worms that can stay dormant in a frozen state for over a year!
keep an eye on your other snakes as well!

If any of your other snakes have come in contact with a rodent that has been in her cage, or with her feces, or you have handled them after you handled her or cleaned her cage, they may be infected as well.
You should probably have at least one other animal from your collection tested just to be sure they are clean. It's rare to see worms in the feces unless the infestation is quite extensive.

There seems to be some debate over this. According to Dr. Scott Stahl when he was on Reptile Radio, snakes do not get internal parasites from feeders (at least the type of parasites that would live on feeders - however, I'm sure it's possible if parasites get on a prey item from an infected animal). I've fed live to all of mine for the past 4 and a half year, and none of them have gotten internal parasites.
Parasites are very species specific. Warm blooded specific parasites don't survive in cold blooded animals.

Was she CH or CBB? My very first ball python was CH and he had strongile parasites. It's not unheard of for CH babies to have internal parasites.
