cause i plan to breed my silver streak x albino. and expect black pewter & pastel babies which are 100% het albino. then if odds are good.. i wanna do the same thing like you did, the black pewter x black pewter.
The parents are both Black Pewters which is not a deadly combo. Sometimes things just don't go well.

Super blacks are not known to have this difficulty so I attribute this to something that went wrong during incubation. I think it is coincidence that both of them happened to be super blacks. One of them was on the bottom of a tall egg pile and may have been too moist (the vermiculite).

Most super blacks have a "duck billing" issue where their snouts look a little pinched.

It looks like they got tangled in the egg with is a developmental issue & can happen no matter what the morph. Sorry it happened to be the Super Blacks. Nice year otherwise though- awesome stuff!

Colin sorry to hear bout the losses bud but you gotta look at the glass half full, at least you got some offspring this season. Out of the 3 snakes I paired together this past Fall only one produced. It was a pair of Dumeril's Boas in which I got 1 healthy baby out of and 12 slugs. She slugged out as they say...

Not always, but it is a known problem with super blacks. I remember Ralph Davis talking about it a year or two ago.

there is nothing to worry about in terms of 8balls being kinked. I have seen many superblacks and super cinnamons and have talked to many people that produce them and that is not an issue of concern. The only consistant issue is the narrow snout or duckbilling. These were simply an isolated instance and by chance the two eggs in that clutch that both supers were the dead in egg. Todd
