Trust me, I get the late night "Buy It!!!"s too, so I understand. But from my crazy little corner of data, I think you should wait until you find something you really, really like. $400 isn't crazy cheap for lessers. The average price on KS/Fauna for a male lesser for both July and August is around $435. And so far for September, it's around $390.

I've been tracking prices since November, and I think they're going to drop a little more before we see the bottom. Save your money and wait for that super hot boy that makes your jaw drop. It'll be worth it.

The lowest I've seen a Lesser was at $800.

I've seen a number posted on websites of known "good guys" in the business that were definitely a good chunk below $800 just fyi.

I would not buy from an online seller that you can't find any info on. Post up an inquiry thread here and on the BOI to see if anyone has dealings with the seller.
I also would advice against lessers of "moderate" quality for that money. The way prices are heading you can probably find top examples for around the same money.

Thats crap and a big reason that it's such a rough time for people getting into the hobby to sell their animals. I have at least 5 excellent transactions as a buyer, but it's not like the sellers all go on FC and BP.net and post how good their buyer was. Sure, some of the small guys do but it's not that common.

As far as not buying from a reputable source, do some research, if you can't find any information ask around, if you can't get any information after that just call the person and ask a lot of questions, if they make you feel comfortable about buying from them then have at it, if not well, I trust you to follow what your gut says.

That's so weird, because I've tried emailing him twice in the past - and didn't get a response either time. I know he's one of the top "good guys," so I'm wondering what happened... maybe my email went into his spam, or vice versa?? Anyway, I understand the urge to buy a lesser, since I've been coveting them for months! That right there is reason enough not to buy right now. The problem with instant gratification is that we "settle" for the best deal, not the best quality.

I've been wanting a lesser for 2 years now. I've JUST found the lesser that I want to add to my collection. And he's stunning.

I think anyone considering breeding really needs to take a long hard look at why they want to breed. Is it only to produce more of the same to sell, or is it to produce the very best examples of the morphs you're working with to improve the morph? God knows we have enough muddy pastels out there because breeders just threw pastels at any old normal, whether she complimented the gene or not.
