What a pretty little turtle. Glad they have a chance.

What a shocker, asian food markets to blame.
I think any and every animal that is endangered is due to two reasons, habitat loss or asians' wiping them out for food and "medicine".

    Hardly all of them,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passenger_Pigeon

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thylacine

Habitat loss is one of the great causes I'll grant you - as are the introduction of cats and rats to island habitats unable to cope.

But generally speaking most extinctions are a combination of factors which weaken the species resistance to what would other wise be perfectly tolerable pressures.

I think it's actually odd that PETA and the HSUS are actively planning to make domestic breeds extinct. It's not the first time humans have done it but trying to pretend it is for their own good is a new twist.

There's always exceptions and I'm speaking more in generalities pertaining to the more recent. Plenty of animals have been wiped out or nearly wiped out by groups other than asians.
