Thanks for the tips - I'll have to check them out. We have an awesome library, and I just simply put books on reserve online, and they e-mail me when they're ready to pick up. And they're about 2 miles from me. Sweet!

John Saul has been my absolute favorite author since I was a child. He does mostly horror/suspense type work and I have yet to find even one of his books that I didn't love. The Blackstone Chronicles was the first book of his that I read and is definitely at the top of my list. I recommend his work to anyone that loves reading.

    Re: What books?

I'm pretty much a pure fantasy reader, and my book collection shows it. I think out of over 600 books only 10 aren't based on dragons or magic of some sort (and five of those ten are poems! Bah!).

A few of my favorites are R.A. Salvatore (Drizzt!), E.E Knight (Age of Fire. Quality starts to die out by the 4th book, but hoping the next two are as good as the first three.), and Elizabeth Kerner. I believe the last only has one series to her tally - starting with Song in the Silence, but that trilogy is pretty much my inspiration. They're the only books that have gotten me attached enough to the characters to be crying right along with them.

Another series I've been following, and is hyping up to be a new obsession, is Kate Elliot's Crossroads series. It's a slow start, but gets it hook in you about three chapters in. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get my hands on Traitor's Gate to finish it off.

I used to have a few of his books but they were lost in a move. I think my favorite was Suffer The Children. I'm pretty sure that's what it was called. It was crazy!

    Re: What books?

What we have on our book shelf: Koontz, King/Bachman, Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, Feist, Dan Simmons (love his books), Rice, Tolkien, Rowling, Liam Hearn... etc. Lots of sci-fi fantasy stuff. King, Koontz and Jordan pretty much dominate our shelves. :p

I love going to the new releases pile and picking up whatever catches my fancy. Right now I am reading The Affinity Bridge, and Chris is still working on The Rise of Endymion by Dan Simmons.

I should just go to my book shelf and name off all the authors... Haha! Connie, I have ALL of the Vampire Chronicles by Rice and also the Mayfair Witches. I've always enjoyed vampire books/movies ever since I saw Interview With A Vampire when I was little. Now all you can find are vamp books...
