help with a leo hatchling
I have a leo hatchling that hasn't eaten yet. so far I have only tried to feed tiny meal worms.. they have been in there with it for 4 days not and it hasn't eaten a single one.
What should I try next? the tiny crickets? any help you can give would be very appreciated!

Re: help with a leo hatchling
Leos are very movement oriented so yeah try some pinhead crickets. I just fed two hatchlings some the other night left 6 in the box with them and the next morning they were all gone.

Re: help with a leo hatchling
ive always wondered why do leos have calcium dishes? Do they eat the calcium on their own?

Re: help with a leo hatchling
how old is the hatchling? Leopards do not eat anything for first 3-4 days somtimes longer. I feed only mealworms to babies and had over 100 without one problem this year. If its older could be stress related if they move from one place to another (shipping, show..whatever) they will go on strike for a lil while no big deal generally as long as gecko is in good shape.

They will every once in a while. Gravid females tend to lick up the calcium more frequently since they need the extra calcium for eggs.

Re: help with a leo hatchling
Still not having any luck getting this little guy to eat. He is about 2 weeks old and as far as I know he hasn't eaten yet.
I have him in a 5 quart tub. The tub is in an RBI rack. The warm side is 90 degrees, the cold side is about 82 or so. Temps are the same 24 hours a day. I have 2 hides (toilet paper rolls) that he is in 90% of the time. one little water bowl and his food dish. I keep 10 little live meal worms in it at all times.
He has already shed 2 times. Each time he had no trouble shedding clean.
I have offered small meal worms, pin head crickets and 1/4 size crickets. It is possible that I miscounted a cricket somewhere along the way and he did eat, but as far as I can tell he has not eaten. He is still active and looks healthy. He is still pretty difficult to catch when doing maintenance to his tub.
Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. This little guy is the result of my sons first breeding project and if he doesn't make it my son will be crushed!

Re: help with a leo hatchling
The fact that he is still shedding leads me to believe that he's still getting nutrients from some where; I would just keep offering a variety to try and entice him to eat. Goodluck I have a good feeling he'll be fine; maybe contact a vet and ask what else you could do? Maybe theres a supplement you can provide or something.
