I'd give it a shot. If he doesn't try this season, he should be ready by the next. I'm in the same position you are, most of my males are in the 450-500g range this season. If all else fails I'll throw my BF's normal in with the breeder girls, he's about 900g right now. This will be my first season breeding, so I'd be happy with all normals
