    Tubs

I want to start keeping my BPs in a tub/sterilite container instead of glass cages, but I don't know how to heat them properly. I'm trying to be economical about it as well. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!

    UTH - Under tank heaters
Put these under each tub, it's all you really need. No lights required.

    Heat Tape
Stick a few pieces of tape to the bottom and/or sides.

Why do you say no light is required? Will the tape on its own keep the Hot Side 90-94 and cool side 82-84? I'm new to owning a BP and he is in a Plastic container. I was told know actual light is needed but a Red Heat bulb will be needed.

heat tape should be able to maintain the proper temps, just make sure u use a t-stat with it

all the heat lamp does is suck out your humidity. in a tub, heat lamps are obsolete.

To clarify, no special light is required. Ambient room light is enough. That doesn't mean keep them in the dark all the time--a 12 hour light/12 hour dark cycle is best for them.

Red lights are for heat. If you use undertank heating and your temperatures are good, red or blue lights are unecessary. These colors do not disturb the snakes at night, when they are awake, that is why they are used for supplemental heat. I do not recommend using heat lights with a plastic tub, that's a fire hazard.

    Re: Tubs

Can I use a heating pad or should I get a reptile heatingpad that they sell at pet stores. They usually go under glass tanks. Plus those get pretty hot as well, should I just stick with heat pad. I dont have anywhere to get heat tape so I need another alternative. If you could send me links to an alternative to heat tape that would be great!

You would definitely want to buy the one specifically made for reptiles from the pet store.
