    One hide (in a tub)?

I just upgraded Toby to a large exo-terra cave, since his medium was fitting like a small hat. He was literally squashing himself in them, to the point where his skin looked dented. So I finally got him two identical large caves (also exo-terra), and now his 28qt tub looks REALLY cluttered... there's barely enough room for the water dish, which is pretty small. Should I cut down to one hide? His tub has a dark blue cover, which should feel pretty secure, and he's going into a rack system soon.

Yeah I noticed that mine only uses one hide anyway and eats perfect.

Once he goes into a rack system he may or may not need the hides at all. Roughly half of my snakes still have one hide, while the other half have none. I would let him have the two hides until you move him into a rack system, but that is just me. After that, I would just read his behavior. I have one girl who LOVES her hide and is always in it, but my biggest breeder girl couldn't care less.

Thanks! The rack should be arriving this week (probably Friday), so I'll get him in there pretty soon. He's a very mellow guy, who doesn't even care if I handle him during shed or feeding - which obviously I wouldn't do on purpose, but it's happened. So I'm guessing one will be fine, since he seems pretty content with the large cave.

What kind of rack are you getting? Just curious...thinking about getting one myself.

I ordered one from Rack & Reptiles, mostly because it holds 3 different sized tubs (12, 28 & 41qt)... and was reasonably priced at $300 including shipping and tubs.
