    Pics of your hides

Hey everyone, I just wanted to make this thread to get some ideas. I am in need of new hides, since some are getting small for my snakes, some are not that secure, and need some for the cool ends of the enclosures. The hides are the #1 thing on my list for my snakes and reptiles right now, and I'm not looking into getting a hide that's $12 at Petsmart. I just wanted to see some pics of your hides for ideas if I can create my own, and if some are bought at stores I would really appreciate telling where you bought it. I'm mainly looking into the flower pots or dog dishes, but I also heard that there were containers you can purchase from the Dollar Store or Home Depot that work really well for snake hides. I know this thread is supposed to be in "General Herp", but I'm mainly talking about the BPs since I am in need to get hides for them first.

If you bought your hides at a store, I would really appreciate telling me the store you got it from and how much you got it for just so I know what to expect the prices may be. Thanks!

Also, if you can add your snake in the picture by/in the hide that would be great just so I know how big of a hide to purchase or make.

I currently use the Exo-Terra reptile cave(medium size). Here is the website to see what they look like http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/reptile_cave.php . I paid $6.99 at Big Al's but this is Canadian store! They look awesome in the tank!

Nothing fancy or creative, just the regular ones bought at a pet store.. I wanted a natural theme for this guy.. He seems to enjoy them.

    Re: Pics of your hides

I just bought two plastic flower pots at my local Lowe's for about $1.50 each..and the saucer type things that were on the bottom snapped off, and now I'm using those as my hides. The actual pots will make great hides when my snake gets bigger...as of now, the hides she has now are perfect for her..they fit very snugly ^^; I bought the smallest size of pot they had..I dunno how big your snakes are, but they had maybe four different sizes available.

http://reptilebasics.com/Hide-Boxes-p-1-c-282.html i love the offset doors because the snake feels more secure in them, they also provide a nice dark place due to the black plastic

Delilah has a half-log that probably cost $5-10 (?), and a large exo-terra cave which cost about $7 online: http://petsolutions.amazonwebstore.c...B0002AR5B0.htm
I know most people frown on the half-logs, and recommend having 2 identical hides - but she likes it this way! We tried the matching caves, and she got very agitated. Anyway, here she is in her log (don't have a picture of her in the cave)... fyi, she is about 430g and over 3ft long:

As you can see, the half-log doesn't affect her appetite... LOL

Toby did have 2 medium exo-terra caves, but I recently upgraded him to the large size... he's around the same size as Delilah now, and was wearing the medium as a hat. Here he is starting to outgrow the old one, about 3-4 weeks ago:

My baby leopard geckos, now enjoying his medium cave (and his old glass tank):

Then Mona, who is ~2000g and over 4ft long, has two x-large exo-terra caves... thought they were too small at first, but she loves them! I paid about $10/piece from that same website above:

Finally, for my new hatchlings arriving next week, I bought a bunch of these in small & medium... https://www.reptilebasics.com/Hide-Boxes-p-1-c-282.html

Large dog water/food bowl from Ikea. $0.99

My 2600g female can fit under it not too bad. There is lots of room under them for the snakes. I use the small ones, $0.49, for the babies.
