Re: A question for the Married or living together couples

My wife Christine is a big help. So are my daughters. When we first got married 14 yrs ago Christine was scared of snakes. So I bought her her own snake to work with. Now she does not mind them at all. Now she is not going to go out to my room and get one out of the cage to hold but she is allways thier to help me if I need help in cleaning cages or holding the smaller stuff while I clean. She also helps me with our school presentation's. She also takes care of our beardied dragon's which are all in the house. She' great and she's my wife.

Re: A question for the Married or living together couples

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost two years, and have been living together for a little bit longer (started out as roommates). He knew I was an animal lover when we got together. He likes animals... just if it was up to him, he wouldn't have any, heh. He had one cat when I moved in, and I had three dogs, three cats, a horse, two geckos, a bird, a rat, etc... Now we have all together five dogs, four cats, the horse, 17 geckos, 10 snakes, a Horned Lizard, a turtle, and a rat.

He will occasionally feed/water the dogs, cats, and horse for me. He'll let the dogs in and outside, although I still have to ask him specifically sometimes (I work full-time, he's home most of the day). When I've gone out of town, he'll do it all. He hasn't cleaned the cat box since I moved in, but oh well. He really likes to talk to the rat, and will give him treats. As far as the reptiles go, he doesn't love them, but doesn't really mind them. He'll handle them if I get them out first, and I'll keep him up to date with what's going on in terms of feeding, babies, etc. Sometimes he resents that he no longer has a guest room, but I think it's only fair that I have my room in the house because he's got his office. I pay for almost everything for the animals - we split cat litter, and he's bought hay and feed for the horse a few times.

I think the best way to sum it up is that he tolerates the pets. They're really just my thing.

Yeah my boyfriend doesn't like snakes hopefully he'll come around before we get married. It's nice to know I'm not the only one out there.

Re: A question for the Married or living together couples

My husband was kinda into the snakes in the beginning and even had his own king snake. The king snake escaped because of an ill fitted lid and ever since then has not had much to do with the snakes since. If I need him to hold a snake or fill a water dish, he will do it, but he won't do it without being asked first.

And he has admitted to tuning me out when I talk about my snakes and breeding them.

Re: A question for the Married or living together couples

My boyfriend of 3.5 years doesn't have anything to do with them. Although he did let me devote a room in the basement to the snakes!!! I agree with the others about how it's a good thing our other halves don't like the snakes or take care of them because they don't know how many we have There was a long time that went by that my boyfriend didn't realize I was up to 6!
