Hook Training Bloods?
Okay, I'm a little confused with all the "up to date" feeding methods... I'm going to be getting a blood python and obviously want him to be tame.. Should I hook train him and feed him IN his enclosure or should i feed him in a separate shoebox or something.. .Or Do I even need to hook train?

IN the enclosure....
No need to hook train, just handle the animal on a regular
Usually cage cleanings and water changes will calm them down over time

ha! good luck hooking a blood when it's 5' and 20 lbs!
feed him in his cage. let him know food isn't coming. these guys can be CRAZY eaters, so be careful opening up that cage.

When you hook train, you dont actually hook the snake.... You just give them a rub on the head and neck with it to let them know its time to be handled, not fed... lol But thanks for the other Info... I Appreciate It!

yeah it's not a bad idea w/ any animal to let it know that food is not coming by moving their upper bodies around w/ a hook, or that type of stuff.
but be cautious , i had some bloods that would literally jump up in the air and grab f/t rats. we're talkin 5' + bloods w/ some girth.

Re: Hook Training Bloods?
All you gotta do is reach in and give em a little slap or two on the lower part of they're body.
Works for me anyways
