    Two headed Rattlesnake

    Found this on Comcast.

    http://www.comcast.net/video/jon-gos...st/1228505743/

I can't figure out how to do a direct link to the video, but the video is the one right under the Jon Gosselin one.

    Re: Two headed Rattlesnake

I can't get video to play here at work; is this the surgery that was done in Tucson today?

If so, it wasn't a two-headed rattlesnake. They were conjoined siblings--attached at the neck area. My vet (Dr. Jarchow) and one of my close friends (who is a vet tech for Dr. Jarchow) were the ones who did the procedure. I was just talking to her about that today! She says they were able to separate the two, though there was definitely a "dominant" sibling, so it's not certain if both will survive. They did have a small portion of their spine connected, so they did have to remove some of the spine from one of the siblings.

Also, here's an article from a local paper: http://www.azstarnet.com/metro/306591 .

What's really neat about this story--I think, anyway--is that the mother was still wrapped around the joined siblings, protecting them even when all the other babies had already left!

That's a good mother. Pretty snakes, hopefully both make it ok, and one doesn't die.

why even think of putting down 2 animals that have a great chance at life after this?

The guy who found them said the mother was still wrapped around the baby, and he had to remove the mother before getting to the baby. My friend works with the vet who did the procedure, and I heard it from her.
