Hatchling Passed a Urate....and also something wierd
I have plans to take Rubiix to get fed by a pinky pump today and when I went to retrieve him, I opened his tub to find him not only using his hide (which he normally never does) but also there were 3 objects in his tub. The first I quickly identified as a urate! Yay for hydration! The other two are a little wierder. The first looks like a urate but is a darker coloration and the other doesn't look like anything and it has a gritty texture. Almost like course sand. The gritty pieces feel too hard to be vermiculite but it could be. Any ideas? I'm uploading the pictures now. My camera doesn't like to take up close pics of things I need it to.

I've had bp's pass yellow urates, and also oddly shaped urates. I'm guessing she's probably fine.

I'm pretty sure the white thing and the yellow thing are both urates, but its the 3rd thing he passed that is the mystery. It just feels like gritty sand. The only thing that we have put in his throat was egg yolk, water, and he did have a mouse pink in his throat for 24 hours and that had started digesting (slight digestion, as in super soft squishable bones, elongated head and skin would just fall off the pink)

Don't freak out the last thing is normal in babies the first few times they pee.

Like everyone said, looks like normal stuff for a hatchling. He really doesn't look like he's in bad shape.

He really doesn't look bad for a snake that hatched out on 7-7-09 and hasn't had a real meal yet. We tube fed him some yolk but thats about it. We are really going to try the pinky pump since every whole prey item attempt has failed...miserably. He weighed 37g at hatching and now weighs 30g. (after passing the urate)
