Our Collection...
ok so for those who don't know my story my husband came to me one day and wanted to breed ball pythons... my answer right away was NO WAY i had a huge fear for these wonderful creatures, but he came to me with some good ideas so I gave in and decided he could go ahead and purchase a few. Our few became a collection very quickly, and now I am very involved. We are having a lot of fun. We started this in April with 2 males and now we are:
2.8 Normals; 1.0 Cinnamon; 1.0 Spider; 2.2 Pastels; 2.1 HPied; 0.4 66%HPied
I would say we are doin pretty well and I am enjoying every bit of it. Its a fun addiction. cant wait for the show next week. Hope to find somethin to better our collection. FUN FUN FUN!

Re: Our Collection...
I'm so glad I'm not alone. I went to a show a few months ago with my daughter saying we'd MAYBE get one to replace the one I'd have for almost 20 yrs that died last summer.
We ended up coming home with a Pair of Citrus Ghosts.......
Now...2 months later, I have the ghosts, 1.1 Pastels, 1.1 100% Het Pied, 1.1 spiders on the way, 1.1 100% Het Albino's on the way, and a male Fire once it eats a few more times. My daughter ( who is 4 ) can't wait to go to the next show in September to get some more BP's and another Leopard Gecko to go with Sweetie Pie ( Leo she wanted at the first show )
I love it, but my in-laws aren't so thrilled that she loves the reptiles so much.

Re: Our Collection...
ahhh I love hearing other people stories on how they got involved with BP's!!
My girlfriend and I were walking through the mall one day, and one of the people that from the pet shop was out with a ball-python. I was never really into snakes, more of a frog guy at the time, but Kristyn was compelled to hold him. After watching her handle him and saw how gentle these little animals could be I started researching them every day after that. I actually got a little obsessed with it lol! I dove right into the morphs and was amazed by all the different variations, and needed to know when the next expo was going to be so I could see them in person.
So, long story short we went to the expo and I didn't leave without my ball!! Now I have 6 adult normal females, 1 pastel male, and counting. We are currently building a snake room, racks, and getting ready to dive right into the breeding game as well. This year is going to be intense in terms of money spent on balls, cuz we aren't cutting any corners so it should be interesting for sure!! What an amazing hobby, AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO HAVE THE SAME DREAM!!

Re: Our Collection...
I just look at it as I need to let her develop her fears on her own and not push mine or anyone else's on her. She wants to hold them and help take care of them, then I want to help encourage that. She knows how important it is to clean up afterwards so as to not take a chance of getting sick or making her baby brother sick.
Back on topic.....Mrs. Twistedtails, I think we need some pictures!

yeah I can relate i think we all can. But when you find something you really love doing, who cares if anyone approves of it! It took me a while to realize why my husband wanted to do it so bad. Its another thing we have in comon and now we share it with our children. its great

Thats how I am with anything I fall in love with lol, I obsess over it. It was soo random too, just kind of fell into my lap which made it even more enjoyable cuz I didn't see it coming. At first I was kind of upset that my family didn't support it at all, but now I use it as fuel for the long haul ahead. They think I'm nuts! I show them videos of Brian from BHB and how successful he is, and they just start saying how crazy I am and how I have unrealistic goals. No one understands the BP market, but its not for them to understand I guess. I just wanna die doing SOMETHING i like, rather then some stupid 9-5 job that anyone can do. I think its great that your daughter has such an interest in them, Kristyn's little brother loves them too and it is nice seeing the little ones enjoy them as much as us lol.
