While this is a cool thing for you- you just told Python people you're getting a Boa. (BTW Hogg Islands- yeah, they rock!) But posting in the Boa area, may be more helpful for you. Just a thought-

could i just put a zoomed heat pad under the AP cage attached to a thermostat? or will it not get hot enough?

id steer away form lllreptile as their rep has gone down. I got poor service form them. Stick with what is known and who backs up their products like Reptile Basics

Ya I'd try to stay away from LLLreptiles. Well your list seems pretty good and good luck with getting that Hogg.

Don't use a heat pad buy some flexwatt it is a lot cheaper and better i think. Here's a good guide on how to wire flexwatt.
http://www.arbreptiles.com/cages/flexwire.shtml
It's real easy and what kind of thermostat are you using?
Buy 11" flexwatt and cut it to about 1'6" or 2' so just buy 2' of it should only cost about 7 to 8 bucks and buy 2 metal connectors.
Reptiles make life tolerable.

Re: New plans...
You may be able too. But the best heat source by far is a radiant heat panel. You email them your cage size. Type of snake. Room temps etc.. and he'll tell you what size panel is best for you.
