    Downsize living space?

Would moving a 1.2 group with babies from a larger tub to a 10 gallon glass tank be a bad idea?

I now have two 1.2 breeding groups and I would like to have them both in 10 gallon tanks so they can both sit on one shelf in the garage. It would help with keeping things more organized but I wasn't sure if they would freak out with having less room. They would lose about half their floor space.

So does anyone see any problems with this?

    Thanks!

I see no problem most ASF's breeders including myself use 10g tanks with no problem.

    Re: Downsize living space?

Sweet! I'll be moving them today. I'm in a cleaning/organizing mode right now and it was starting to drive me crazy just having them here and there and not on shelves. The entire garage and reptile rooms are getting redone. I'm tired of the clutter and now I have the time to do something about it.

    Thanks again!

    Re: Downsize living space?

Since moving I have lost one water bottle. Now that group 1 is in the tank instead of tub I had to put the water bottles inside. So of course they chewed a hole on the top of one. So I'll be going out this weekend and buying some glass water bottles. But I finally got around to taking a picture of my two groups in their 10 gallon tanks. I put them on the dryer as it's hard to get a good picture while on the shelves.

Group 1: (with group 2 in background)

    Group 2:

They decided to make the food dish the bed. Silly things.

I didn't take a picture of the grow out tub as they were all hiding in their tubes. No fun seeing a tub without any cute faces looking up at you.

Also this weekend I'll be going out and getting another tub for grow outs. I'm going to keep the two groups weanling separate. Sort of a experiment.

    Thanks!

    Question Re: Downsize living space?

Question: how many ASFs can I keep in a grow out tub? My tub is around 4x2(maybe a bit smaller but it is def a good size, about 10in longer than a 66qt sterilitr tub)

I have two water bottles and always plenty of food. Right now I have around 50-60 in there, mostly just weaned, a few medium or close to it.

They don't seem over crowded and I haven't seen or heard any fighting and the tub has both males and females.

    good job.

One thing though... your kind of wasting your time with the food bowls... all they will do is throw out the food and make a bed / nest of the bowls. Much better off just dumping the measured food out in a designated food corner.

I'm not really sure. I've never gotten that many yet to know. lol Maybe one of the more experienced breeders could tell you. But I'm sure as long as you have enough room so they are not on top of each other you are probably ok.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that myself. I'll pull them in a bit when I go and check on them before bed.

    Thanks!
