So then, the buyers of these flipped snakes, the ones who actually keep the "stupid" flippers in business, they are what, geniuses?

No, I guess that statement would in and of itself be stupid, wouldn't it? They couldn't be very smart if they were keeping stupid people in business. Could they?

Well, for those of us who are stupid, we'll just leave it to those of you who are of superior intelligence to know where to draw the line.

Between stupid and anything else, that is.

You CAN draw a line, can't you?
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

    Re: JnJ reptile?

    Wes,

My original post wasn't intended to have a connotation of any sort. Just two facts.

The second is just the situation how I honestly see it.

For what its worth I've read numberous positive experiences about JnJ on the boards. The reality is some people have other considerations outside of reputation when it comes to making a purchase.

I agree with Mark that the buyer should always quarantine.

I'm just putting another opinion out there for the OP to be able to formulate their own decision on. I would like to feel comfortable buying from someone who resells but I haven't got there yet. I could just be paranoid when it comes to this, but its not my intention to demonize anybody.

Alright, and i agree, if the person doing the flip can at least give you all the info and be honest about it, its not that bad.

It's not the widespread practice of reselling snakes that is the problem, it's how certain individuals go about it that is the problem.
While I don't necessarily agree with your first point, and don't know who you are referring to on your second point, I do tend to agree with your third point. I little honesty is appreciated. If you sell someone's animals, just say so. Don't lie and say you produced them or skirt the issue when asked. There is just something dirty about people like that.

    Re: JnJ reptile?

theres a good amount of people that flip snakes and are legit, jnj being one. I just purchased the Butter from Matt Watkins and he told me he didnt produce her, so that pretty much means the she was a flipped snake as she is only a month old and 65 grams. Like Mark said, basicly everyone making a living in the industry has or does flip a snake at some point.

    Re: JnJ reptile?

Incidentally, I would suggest that the mods think about splitting this thread off into a separate discussion. JnJ has a good reputation in the business and it seems unfair to link this to them.

    Re: JnJ reptile?

I was short on females to grow as future breeders, I bought 8 08 CH females from them. All of them have a little something "different" about them, all normals but some reduced, lots of blushing, dark, ect. JnJ was honest with me on what I was getting and give me a pretty good price. I had no problems with the animals and all eat well and are growing as expected. I was satisfied with there honesty and the transaction as a whole. Only thing I did not like was the snakes were shipped in deli cups, plenty of newspaper in an insulated shipping box (guess I am just a stickler for snake bags).

    Re: JnJ reptile?

For the record, I've never done business with them but I would not only highly recommend them but do business with them in a heartbeat if they had something I wanted.

I've known of them since they started and they have always been honest and had a reputation for great animals.
