I liked the ending, and the special effects were great. Overall though, it was too gory for my tastes. The first half of the movie was especially graphic - but then again, maybe it's because were sitting right up near the screen... (moral of the story is always come early on opening night )

it was a decent movie. i was expecting something similar to independence day though. it was kinda a disappointment to be honest, but worth watching.

I saw it and liked it. It was pretty slow at first but ended up getting a lot better.

it WAS gory, but it was really intricate which kinda made all the chaos seem evil genious-ish LOL.

Really? I actually liked the fact that they went in a total different direction with it; it was, refreshing and original. Alien movies are usually only about 2 things: 1 - We come in peace, or 2. Die EARTHLIIINGS! lol

The alien weapons were SWEET! I luved it.

    Re: District 9

I started to watch it, but it started off too slow for me to get interested in, so I didn't watch it. If a movie can't pickup my interest in the first 5-10 minutes or so, i'll never end up watching that movie.

    Re: District 9

Sorry for bumping a kinda old thread.

We (My BF and I) have friends that were born and raised in South Africa, actually 15 mins away from where they filmed the movie. They were really excited about it, but they have a 3 month old and can't go see it. It was kinda cool to see an entire movie in the South African accent!

I personally loved the movie. The lead character reminded me alot of Micheal Scott from The Office. We're huge fans of The Office, and since it's not airing right now, it was nice to watch that kinda of oblivious humor. It was extremely gory, but they didn't dwell too much on the gory parts, which I liked.

If only aliens like that were real! Imagine what we could learn...

Edit: I kinda giggled to myself when people were talking about the rating, I ran into some complications while trying to buy tickets. My BF was coming from work to the theater, and so I offered to buy his ticket so we could just walk in and sit down. I go and try to buy two tickets, and they ask for the second persons ID. ...Why would I carry someone else's ID on me?! Apparently, at our theater only according to the manager, you need to be 21 to buy more than one ticket for a rated R movie. We do have alot of teenagers that hang outside the theater, so I'm guessing people have been sneaking them in. So in 5 months I'll be able to DRINK and buy TWO tickets for a rated R movie! WOO HOO! Jinkies... lol...
