If you had 10K to spend

If you were starting with Ball Pythons, and had 10K in cash, and another 5-10K in trade stuff, what would you get and why?

Re: If you had 10K to spend

If it were me with the prices the way they are I'd get me as many double and triple combo females I could get my hands on and have a male of each one.. But thats just me.

If I had 10k in spare cash... only about $1000 of it would go toward herp. I would get a carpet python and another ball python and stackable cages for each.

Re: If you had 10K to spend

I should probably note that i have about 40 empty CB 70 drawers in ARS racks. I also have one of the most comprehensive Carpet python collections in the country including almost every morph known at this time. (thus the additional 5-10K in trade)

A visual male lavender albino and a two-year old female cinnamon.

Re: If you had 10K to spend

I would get a lot of triple/double co-dominant or recessive animals with some of the nicer basic morphs like Lesser, Mojave, Pastel, Cinny/Black Pastel, Albino, Hypo, Spider, Pinstripe or even Pied. Then I would get one or two more expensive animals that would add expense to the collection, which all depends on you.
CB-70 racks won't hold hatchlings too well, but would work well for breeders. I don't know if you want to try to buy adults or younger animals.

I would first buy a freezer and tons of frozen rats, then buy a bunch of racks, thermostats, and supplies, then i would stock up on as many breeder females and co-dom males as possible. That is saying i am going to just start up

If I has 10 k to spend on ball pythons I wouldnt. Id buy a nice pair of pieds, because I think they are the most visually appealing morph. Id take my other 8k and invest it in something totally unrelated to balls.

Re: If you had 10K to spend

It depends.. am I trying to make money, or am I chasing a particular set of genes in an animal?

The former, I'd invest in dozens of up-to-weight reduced pattern normal females, and a handful of triple dom/co-dom males. I'd also pick up some pastel females.

The latter, well I'd have to do serious thinking. I'd probably pick one or two big projects to chase, one of which would probably a lav albino super cinnamon(or black pastel). I'd probably also pick up a butter and a hidden gene woma. I'd also consider an enchi and a regular woma. If the woma and hidden-gene womas are in fact not the same morph, I'd be seriously interested in chasing a snake that carries multiple reduced-pattern morphs. Just imagine an enchi-woma-hidden gene woma combo, might be pretty sweet.

Re: If you had 10K to spend

I don't post often but I really like this thread. I would get:
    0.1 Pastel(best money can buy)
    1.0 Fire(Again best I can find)
    0.1 Desert(nicest I can get)
    1.0 Enchi(nice high yellow one)

Then I would breed the Pastel to the fire, and the enchi to the desert. Then depending on odds, say I get a male firefly, I would then get female Vanilla. If the Tiger is a male, then I would get a female spotnose. Or vice versa. Then when I hit the odds on a tiger spot nose and a vanilla fire fly, I will breed them together(hopefully I get a male and a female first try) Then I will shoot for my dream 6 combo morph snake. All the lighter coloured normal'er' looking morphs in one snake. I believe this would be the sweetest snake as I really like the lighter coloured morphs that don't stray to much from that of a normal ball python. Don't get me wrong I love lessers, clowns, LA's, Lucy's, and all the morphs I guess, but I particularly like the ones who look more like a normal ball python(as you can see from my list of chosen snakes) The rest of the money will go towards supplies(T-Stats, cages, maybe racks, and a rat breeding colony)
