Breeding loan?

so any takers in lv????????????? and i have a collection going for future reference to do trades too on future clutches if i can find someone to work/trade with locally.......I want to expand my collection.....

Yes. I have a female that has been with another breeder on this site since September 2007. She was in QT for 60 days, and then was introduced to his male. We have completed that particular breeder loan agreement. We had planned to have her breed to another one of his males last season, but that didn't work out (the male we planned to breed her to was not quite ready), and we agreed he would keep her on to breed her this season.

We'll have our second breeder loan this season, with a new breeder loan contract written up.

I'm taking in a female in the next month from another friend, and she will be in QT for 60 days before I introduce the male to her.

Let me make this clear - I trust BOTH of these breeders and know their collections (they both in fact have stellar reputations here and on Fauna) and know that they keep them as well, if not better than my own. But I am STILL practicing QT. Our animals have been kept in different collections, exposed to different environments (with subtle differences) and have built up their own immunities to their own specific environments.

QT not only protects your OWN collection, but allows the new animal a chance to acclimate to a completely new environment.

Have you checked out exotic pets in las vegas? Its a good pet shop and they guys/gals there are cool, they might be able to hook you up with some fellow herpers out there. There is also a.. flea market? thing I guess that has shows every weekend and I know there is some people that sell snakes that go out there. Haven't been too that so don't take my word for if it is any good or not.

I just want to mention, please don't take breeding loans lightly. Although I've completed 2 in the past, and I have 2 this year, and 1 in the works for next year, I'm VERY picky about who I do breeder loans with. And I have a 2 page contract that spells out the replacement value of the loaned animal, should it die, who is responsible for veterinary care, the length of the QT, how the animals will be split, when the babies and the loaned animal will be returned - etc. And of course, the right to not complete the breeding if its in the best interest of the animals involved.

It's not a matter of "hey, you want to do a breeding loan? I have XYX, I'll send it over and let's split the clutch - sound good? Ok!"

And remember when you bring your animals back into your collection, especially if you have a lot of loand going out - the higher risk you have of bringing something back into your collection if you are not extremely picky about who you do a loan with, AND if you don't QT when they come back into your collection.

I have never particpated in a breeding loan I have thought about it in the past and even put an add up trying to find a female retic in the area to breed with oskar. But the more I thought about it the more I didnt actually want to go threw with it. It does help breeders get what they want with out having to dish out so much money for both morphs but at the same time there are things that could go wrong and Im very up tight about how husbandry is in my room and I would have to really know the person and be very confortable with them to send one of my animals to them

I see what your saying... I guess I'm a little excited and anxious...and umma just chill and breed what I have.... If I can get it up to wieght if not there is many years to come

Very very very true!!!! I am currently in a breeding loan, and it took 4 months of going back and forth with the breeding agreement, not to mention 4-5 pages of everything getting spelled out. I'm excited about it this year, but it was ALOT more work than I thought it would be.
