Peeing Question!

when i clean my tank I only ever notice the urine in those white clumps.. now i read somewhere that they do both liquid and solid urine but do you think there's a problem if its always solid?? I mean what other ways would i be able to tell if he pee's liquid urine? smelly tank? cause the tank never ever smells like urine to me???

My ball pythons seem to have solid piss sometimes, but it's not ALL liquid. So, I'm sure your snake is fine.

What kind of substrate are you using? Most substrates will absorb the liquid part, so when you spot clean, you are actually leaving a bunch of urine in there. With paper towels or newspaper, you see both the solid and the liquid.

Yah that makes sense but it never smells.. i use inverted reptile mix i dont think i'll ever be able to use newspaper... maybe when i breed one day

The liquid will dry pretty quickly in most woodchip style substrates. I used to use repti bark and never saw the massive pools of urine she would leave me until I did the monthly cleanings (gross!).

Why no to the newspaper? Snake doesn't know the difference and it actually makes it easier on you to clean.

I use aspen, its easy because I keep rodents on aspen as well. I would recommend taking out a large area of substrate around the solid urates. As it was said I find its absorbed by the aspen quickly. I tend to take a lot of substrate out when I spot clean.

Same here, I keep a small bin next to the enclosures to replace what I take out. Grab a handful around the spot and replace with fresh. Then every 4-6 weeks I sterilize the enclosure and completely replace the bedding.

I guess i just like the natural look.. the snake obviously doesn't know and cant thank me but i want to keep them in the style of there own habitat as much i can.. it is a pain to clean though!

There is nothing wrong with not keeping your snakes on newspaper or paper towel. As long as you know the pros and cons of what you are using you should be fine.
