The lesser sire you posted looks to have small granite markings, if you look in the alien heads they have small markings and a few in one of them, it could be a reduced granite. And the lesser offspring you posted looks to be a lesser granite to me.

Either way I would repeat that pairing next year and see if you get granites again.
