I ordered my Leos!
I just placed an order with VMSHerp for 1.1 Las Vegas Albino (and 100% het patternless) leopard geckos... Yippee!!
Here's the male I'm getting: http://www.vmsherp.com/images/ForSal...rds/I-H006.JPG
And the female: http://www.vmsherp.com/images/ForSal...rds/I-H003.JPG
Whaddya think?? A few questions about my new babies... it says they're un-sexed but incubated for male/female, so what's the chance they are wrong? And how would I go about sexing them? I also noticed the Las Vegas Albinos lose color as they get older - how much do they lose? I absolutely love the colors and patterns on these lizards, and hope it doesn't fade TOO much.
Finally, what's missing from my setup? I have the tank, heat source, dimmer, thermometer/hydrometer, two cave hides, substrate (paper towels most likely), water dish, and a couple of climbing logs. I know I need some kind of feeding dish... speaking of which, how long should I wait before feeding them?? TIA for any advice, and I'll post an update when they get here!

Re: I ordered my Leos!
Grats. From what I understand, you can sex a leo by looking at their gentiles area. Here is a website that explains this: http://exoticpets.about.com/od/gecko...eckosexing.htm.

Re: I ordered my Leos!
Sorry, one more question! Can they be housed together right away (and from then on), or do I have to separate them for a while? They were hatched on 6/7/09 and 6/8/09 respectively, which makes them around 2 months old.

First of all congrats on your choices!!! And I think they are beautiful!!! There is usually a good chance they are temp sexed correctly. The ones that have the most problems temp sexing are super snows (possibly snows too but I can't remember if this one is correct). I don't know what the chance is that temp sexing works but it is REALLY good if done correctly. I am not sure the answer about hiw much color they lose because I don't have any las vegs albino's.
Tank set up:
What size tank are you using, what type of heat source are you using, what are your temps, one of the hides needs to be a moist hide, you need to put a milk cap (or something like it) in the tank with them at all times filled with calcium without D3, dust the feeders with calcium with d3.
Last question, most people do not put males in with the females until they are going to mate them. Most people if they do house multiple leo's together they use all female's. I do not and would not personally house a male with a female all year long. Also, when they are smaller if seperated it is eaiser to see who is eating and who is not etc. And if one started getting bigger then the other you would also have to seperate them to keep the bigger one from bullying the other one.
How long you should wait before feeding: Wait 2 days and try feeding on the 3rd day. http://www.vmsherp.com/LCAcclimation.htm

Re: I ordered my Leos!
Thanks for the replies! I actually decided to trade the male for a female Tangerine Hypo Carrot-Tail, since I don't want to worry about separating them... I'll probably add a male later, once I've figured out the space/housing issue.
Here's the girl I'm getting now (in addition to the female Las Vegas Albino): http://www.vmsherp.com/images/ForSal...rds/I-I003.JPG Ain't she purty??? The guy from VMS emailed today, and said they'll be shipped next Tuesday, arriving the following morning. Can't wait!

Here's the tank they will be living in (with some alterations)...

My Ball Python lives in there now, but will be moved to a tub this weekend. This tank has a red heat lamp (UTHs don't work on this enclosure), an Acu-rite thermo/hydro with probe, 2 identical cave hides, a water dish, and paper towels as substrate... I'll add the calcium dish as suggested, and a few climbing logs & branches. The temperatures are stable at 80/90 (cool/hot) with humidity at 50% normally - I can adjust these to suit a leo's needs. Sound good?

Re: I ordered my Leos!
P.S. If I remember correctly, that's about a 15gal tank...
