Problems with my terrarium temps
So i got the acurite digital therm so i could accuraty determine the twmp in her tank and i dotn know whats up my basking spot spiked up to 105 F which is really bad i know ...but the other side stayed verycool at 77 ....whats the deal here? Is that normal for over head lamps? Because im switchng to a UTH in a few days i hope this problem doesnt persist with that thats why i was switching to have better control with a thermostat..

Re: Problems with my terrarium temps
Bp's don't need a basking spot. They should have a temp of 92-94 in their warm hide. Where is the Accurite probe located?
That's why tanks can be so difficult. Since they're glass, temps can fluctuate easily since heat conducts through glass easily.

Re: Problems with my terrarium temps
It's not bad, but it's not necessary. Bp's will not lay out under the lamp if their husbandry is correct, rather they will hide in a dark place. Are you providing two identical hides on the wamr and cool sides of the tank?

So right now i switced from the regular 50 watt lamp to the infsred one and it seems to have less heat so the temps at 91 hot and 78 cool but the cool side is risng very slowly..

Yeah, but didn't you say the therm probe is between two rocks under the lamp? If so, that's not the warm hide temp.

Not very likely.
Use a drop of hot glue and secure it to the bottom of the tank under the hide. You want it to measure the highest temp your bp can reach. Bp's are known to burrow, so you don't want it to be burning itself once you get the UTH.
