BP girl from WV! Hello!
I actually found this site back when I first got my year-old ball python on June 3rd of this year. The boards provided me with a lot of helpful information and questions which I wouldn't have thought to ask on my own. Today, I decided to just go ahead and introduce myself and to start posting.
Like many of the snake owners on this site, I have ALWAYS adored snakes of all kinds. They have fascinated me since I was old enough to catch them on my own out in the country where I grew up. I can't even begin to tell you the number of snakes which I have safely caught and released, but I figured that it was about time that I had one of my own.
Thus, I bought my beautiful ball python, Pandora. ^_^ I got her for only $39.99 from a small pet store down the road from where my fiance and I live. I knew right away that she was the best pick. She had no problems eating (she was born and raised on live mice, and I've stayed true to that, only buying her live ones), and she was the best-tempered one, seeming the most curious about me. She also seemed to not mind being handled, and that was very important to me, since I wanted a snake which I could be close to---and not just a creature which I would show off behind glass.
Since I've had her, she has already shed twice, and she has had such a wonderful temper. She knows her feeding routine very well, and she has never struck at me outisde of her feeding box. The two separate times that she did, it was because I had to rush to put her back in her terrarium right after she'd just swallowed her mouse. So, I absolutely blame myself. Still, both times were just light nips where she just tapped me with her teeth warningly. While I know that reptiles don't "like" you the same way that cats or dogs do, I still feel that Pandora recognizes me as something good, which is why she has never actually bitten me. She is so curious about me, touching my face with hers, and never once making me feel threatened in any way. I love her to death!
She was born March, 2008, though the pet dealer wasn't sure of the exact date, since the snakes hadn't been born there. They were actually given to him by a man who raised snakes, but who was deployed to Iraq and thus couldn't take care of them. That is why I got her for such a good price. I have had no problems with her, other than a slight mite problem when I first got her. But since I keep her terrarium clean and wash her occasionally with clean water, the problem has since gone away.
Well, I'm off to post pictures in the picture thread!

Re: BP girl from WV! Hello!
Thanks, everyone! I just realized after looking at the dates on some of my photos of Pandora that I actually got her on June 2nd of this year, not June 3rd. I was a day off in my memories. LoL
