omg!..people eating boa constictors on tv!!!!

was just watching bizare foods on the food network...Andrew zimmern was in nicaragua at this restaurant that serves boa constrictors where you get to look into the cages and pick your very own live boa for consumption. he was holding this beautiful adult boa that are farm raised for the restaurant industry. It was then bbq'd with garlic and pepper. Andrew thought it was stringy and bony, tasted like reptile, but was verry good. but the house specialty was bull ball soup...
As a snake lover..I just could not imagine!!! would have taken in that beauty in a heartbeat!!! what a waste!..I was so digusted!

I think most of my family tries to make me mad when they say, "Oh I've eaten Rattlesnake and Alligator." Doesn't make me mad, but more like ashamed because it's a waste of a good animal. Still don't like the fact that people wear real reptile skin hides and also buy heads or statues of a reptile that once lived.

They're a food source there just like Cows are here, and rabbits, squirrels, geese, and depending on what part of the country, Gator.

It may be "shocking" to you, but it's business as usual there.

It is actually healthy to eat snakes and gators because they all carnivores and have a lot of protein which we need. Though, it is sad.

I love rattlesnake. I could live off that stuff. I was stationed at NAS Fort Worth texas for my last year in the Marines and one of my friends invited me over for a BBQ.
One of the items on the table was a big salad. It was your standard salad with all the greens and some kind of meat scattered all over the top.
I inquired as to what it was and his reply was "Thats the rattle Snake i cought in the back yard last night"
He grilled it and chopped it up for the salad. And it was Good.

Re: omg!..people eating boa constictors on tv!!!!

The thing to remember is that these people have spent years eating things like snakes, lizards and even bugs. While we find it disturbing its good to understand that its merely part of the culture. There are cultures that eat dog and cat and horse while disturbing its just part of their country. We eat things here that other concider scarate think of the Hindu people that have to pass Mc'Donalds or Burger kings. We kill rats by the thousands every year and there are places in Inda that killing a rat is against the law..

    Its all relative.
