    UTH/Thermomostat Troubles

    Hey,

I am planning on getting a new addition at the Daytona expo coming up in a few weeks. So, I am currently preparing for another snake by setting up her tub. But, of course, I ran into a problem. The ReptiTemp500r thermostat probe it too big to fit inbetween the tub and the UTH.

I can fit my finger under it without lifting it up.

This is how big the probe is.

So, if I try to put the probe in the middle of the UTH in between the tub and UTH, it will not fit without the UTH having to bend out in the middle.

    Does anyone have any solutions?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Mine bends too. I do use a 30-40g UTH, which is bigger, but you shouldn't have any problems anyways. Just attach the UTH to the tub with foil tape, allowing the middle to flex a little. It might help to start heating up the UTH so it will loosen up over the probe when you attach it.

Alright, so it's okay if it may be a little different temp right there?

What do you mean? The temp should be the same throughout the UTH.

Since it is bent outward in that spot, the UTH will not be as close to the plastic, so the temp will bea little lower right there than another place on the uTH

I don't think it will make that much of a difference as heat will still build up in that air space. Maybe a fraction of a degree, but nothing to worry about I'd think.

This is the reason flexwatt is preferred with tubs. When using those type of heating pads you need a spare just sitting on the shelf next to the tub to tape the probes to. Other wise the tubs will not sit flat.

If you're not using a rack, it's not a problem. I glued a couple of the feet risers to the bottom, so there's air space for the UTH and probe.
