Thumbs down I'm considering the switch to tubs, anyone have advice?

OK so I have two bp's my Female spider and a male Mojave. They have both lived in glass tanks their whole life span (about a year for the female and a little less for the male). But they've always had difficult shed's and their humidity has been a real pain in the bottom to control. I've just moved to a new apartment and they are both in big tanks, and I'm not allowed to have pets. So maybe switching to tubs would be easier to hide and I've only heard good things about them. Can anyone just give me a basic run down from tub size, substrate, heat source, hide type, and just any other advice you have to offer. I would greatly appreciate it and so would Eva and Wall-e.

Yay! Always good to see someone wanting to switch to tubs. Trust me, it will be a lot easier.

Here's a good resource to get you started: http://ball-pythons.net/modules/Sect...warticle&id=40

I would recommend newspaper or paper towels for substrate. UTH or Flexwatt controlled by a tstat for heating. Grab some plastic bowls from the dollar store for hides.

Here's another thread about hides, thanks to Deborah: http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=59280

Tubs are wonderful. I switched about a month after I got my frist snake. I now have 3 and it is much easier to maintain the tubs compared to the tanks.

I use two kinds of tub sizes. 32qts for the bigger ones and 16qts for the juvies. I use paper towel substrate and I just change it when there is a spill, pee, or poo.

Heating is probably the most simple part. Flexwatt on a thermostat. Tada! Most premade racks will come with the flexwatt so all you need is a nice thermostat.

I use 2 hides but my snakes are still on the small size (under 1000 grams).

    Basically, tubs are awesome.
