    How Many Seasons

Well I was wondering how many seasons everyone tries to prove a Poss het?

I guess this kind of goes hand in hand with my pigment question. We are over day 20 and i see black banding in almost ALL HetxPossHet eggs.

So my thoughts are, to put Co-doms with her when she is ready if she does NOT prove. I mean I have 1 actual HET, so the Poss het is really not needed that badly even if she does prove.

    Your thoughts?

    Re: How Many Seasons

Heather's numbers seem completely reasonable ...but I do know of one person that didn't prove the genetics until the egg count was in the 20's (certainly an exception but proof that sometimes luck can just be really bad). I wouldn't have made it that long.

    Re: How Many Seasons

Last year in a clutch of corns in a het to het pairing, out of 25 I only had one of the homozygous animals. I should have had 6. So even though you should have a 1/4 chance of proving her out one way or another, things don't always work out that way.

But I'd say 10 eggs would be reasonable.

    Re: How Many Seasons

As many seasons as it takes to get 2 clutches of eggs from a Homozygous sire. I believe the most incredible story I heard was about a Het Albino girl that Albey Scholl proved out. If I heard the story right, he goit 3 clutches before she proved, and somewhere around 18 eggs. Maybe Albey will come chime in.

    Re: How Many Seasons

If its a het x poss het pairing, I'd give mine 3 seasons. If its a homozygous x poss het, then 2. That's my plan anyway.

    Re: How Many Seasons

Good question. I agree with the majority. If a homozygous X poss het then 2 seasons or 10 eggs.

Pat How many days are you on your eggs? I thin we are close to the same and I cannot see any patter or really any snake in my eggs. Just some movement.
