i saw em in 92 with type o negative when type o was on the tragical misery tour. closest thing to a religious experience i've ever had. Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate are AMAZING songwriters and the band as a whole is just so tight. For my dollar, Operation: MindCrime is the best metal album ever recorded.

I might agree with you that Mindcrime is the best metal album ever. I haven't listened to it in quite a while, but I would still know all of the lyrics.

So now im talking down on people for pointing out that a certain genre of music is not metal and that your whole criteria for calling something metal is the fact that the singer screams. Wow that's like saying "if it has scales then its a snake to me" how narrow minded. And as for the whole metallica comment who cares if you don't like them I haven't liked anything of theirs. I just don't understand where all these emo kids take off their make up, turn up the distortion and start screaming makes it metal. Whatever i guess to each his own you stay with your scremo and I will stay with real metal. And no screaming does not make something metal there are numerous bands whom don't scream at all. Just FYI.

Re: All you Metalheads out there!

Ok my turn now, you guys listen to many stuff i've never heard, and we'll allways have diferrent opinions, but from a portuguese point of view:

Pantera - you can't stop loving A Vulgar Display of Power, that's all that is and much more

Metallica - What???? until black album, that's the best there is, ok my fav is master but they ruled the earth with black

Sepultura - Brute Brasilian POWER Agressive music for the masses

Ratos do porão - Another brasilian punk/metal band that no one talks about, try listening to just another crime in massacre land

Machine head - Great first album

    Tool -fabulous in every way

    Isis - Strange experience

MASTODON - The best 2009 album, the band that brought metal to life again, extreme

Slayer - Altough it's not one of my fav's great power band, real aggressive.....

    I could go on forever

And what makes a metal band??????
Surelly not those little techique guitar players with tight shorts and crasy makeup hair but the feeling, the agression, the power that they thrive into the music, Dream Theater and such as them, baHHHHHH, ok they play like crazy but........they are just little wusses........

    Welll.........

so by your logic punk is metal?????? They bang their heads and even pit hell they invented pitting. And yes I am a "metal snob" I don't like things that are clearly not something being put into that category, especially when its something I am so passionate about.
Do you not get upset when someone confuses your harmless ball python for a cobra or act as if its just as dangerous. two completely different things confused for one another
Well thats kind of how I feel with this subject. Someone blatantly confusing metal with hardcore ticks me off. Sorry but thats how i am I like things to be correct.

Some of us may just have to agree to disagree I guess. There are some really great bands listed.
