Yo Dude.. Is this like a yellow belly man????

Hehehehe, I just wanted to finally be able to ask the eternal question... Is this a yellow belly....

These started hatching today, and this is the first one out of the egg. First, a little back story... A few years back I bought a 'Proven Line' yellow belly from the guy who wrote the hunters guide to the morphs. I figured he should know if anyone does right? The breeder male that I got was NOT the best example of the morph (and the price reflected this) Frankly at the time I didn't care since my goal was to produce an ivory and I figured that a cheap one would produce as nice of an ivory as an expensive one... Since then, I've wished that I had gotten a better quality yellow belly for the nice crosses that they can produce, although I still think that an average or below average one like I got will produce just as nice ivories as the most expensive one you can find...

I think I already know what's what here... But I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else's thoughts were on the matter... So.... Is this a yellow belly or not???

The color isn't quite there, not really bright enough, but pretty close to the right tone.

Nice head spot. A pretty good diagnostic indicator...

Not great flames, but they're still flames and the color is right...

Belly pattern isn't real close but maybe close enough? What do you think??
At least it's a nice belly button shot...

Another belly shot, still not great but kinda close....

So, now that you've seen the pics.. Yo Dude... is this a yellow belly????

    Hehehehehehehe

Re: Yo Dude.. Is this like a yellow belly man????

Yeah, the belly isn't quite what you would call 'A classic yellow belly pattern' But then again, neither is his fathers belly which is from a 'proven line'

Oh, and he has a great 'booger nose pattern' on his face. Not that it's a diagnostic indicator for yellow bellies, but it's still kind of cool anyway.

I'd say no. The sides have not the yb markings, no flames, no yellow/orange...the belly is normal.

I say yes. The sibling to my YB has the same black belly and he is now a proven breeder and produced both black and clear bellied YB.

Good luck on the Ivory, I'm shooting for one next year.

Re: Yo Dude.. Is this like a yellow belly man????

Well then what about this one? Second one out of the egg (another male)

color looks pretty much the same as the first.

Head spot doesn't look as good as the other one.

Much more interesting side pattern however.

So what do you think of THIS belly?

The second one has a much more 'classic yellow belly' look to it. HOWEVER,
the FIRST one looks a lot more like the father. Including the belly.

So, tell me what your thoughts are? I've certainly found this to be an interesting clutch.

The second one is a Yellowbelly, but the first one is not. How many are in the clutch?
