People need to get their facts straight.

What I don't get is how they are coming down on different snake species, when your most common animal attack on humans are dogs. I was watching a tv show last night that was talking about it, and they were showing statistics and such. Why don't they put a ban on dogs? We get all the grief because of the baby that died. What about when the ferret chewed off the babies toes? Even when kids die or get very seriously injured from dogs?

Yea but stuff like that shows how people are just trying to control what we do. I honestly don't think it's fair.

I think mostly because dog attacks are more common, so they have no need to even care about dog attacks. The large snakes that have constricted people get their attention, just because it does not normally happen often and snakes are the "scary animals" that people have heard many negative things about. The snake constricting and killing that little girl is much of a bigger story than people getting bit by large Western DiamondBack Rattlesnakes here. Just recently a man was bit too. And also, I bet a lot more people are dying in other countries that have the large constrictors than in the U.S. It's probably also common in other countries too.

There's plenty of animosity towards dogs, particularly bully or guard-dog breeds.

There are breed bans, and pretty much everywhere requires dog registration, limits the number of dogs per household, and many MANY other laws that if anybody tried to impose on snakes as a whole, we would be up in arms about.

Definitely. Snakes are misunderstood, and when most people talk about them they say negative things which passes on from person to person, creating fear in more and more people. Though, if they were told positive things about snakes from a professional, they may just understand snakes. I'm not a professional, but it's very hard to try to get my grandparents in thinking positive things about snakes but all I hear them say is, "One day your snakes are going to get really big and if you try sleeping with them they will try to wrap around your neck and constrict you." and they also say, "Why don't you like a different pet like a dog or a cat??" I just ignore them.

My dad freaks over a plastic snake and wont even come in the house till it is gone. Sometimes you can only fix the newer generations.
