We needed more BUCKETS!
Hahaha, so we have a covered, screened in porch on our house, which was poorly built and has been developing more and more leaks over time. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to tear the roof down from the attached structure to replace it yet, and when it really starts raining, it--well--leaks! We keep an assortment of buckets out there to catch the water, because we are worried about it touching the house or getting under the door too much.
Today, it started raining so hard that one of our buckets was almost entirely filled in under half an hour! We also did not have enough buckets, LOL. Our cat, Osiris, was right there along with us watching the action as we "bailed" out our porch, LOL. In most places, the water was over the top of my feet and touched my ankles; we even had to bring in the kitty litter box for fear of it getting flooded!!!! Some photos!

That last one needs a little caption for the kitty. "MOAR BUCKETS, HUMANS!" or something like that! The glowing demon eyes was funny. XD
We had fun! Sorta. Lol.

Just a helpful hint, assuming the leaks aren't too big, You can buy stuff like JB-Weld, which is water resistant, and it bonds to almost any surface, just make sure you clean/sand a bit to give it a rough texture. Otherwise they have a type of cauking you can use.

Thanks! I'll pass that on to my dad, but I'm fairly sure that at this point the roof just needs to be replaced over the porch. It's been there for so long and the leaking just keeps getting worse. But in the mean time, your idea is good!! Maybe we'll do that!

I useto help a friend with roofs when I was younger, and thats moreless a temporary fix, also I forgot to mention, that won't work if it shingles. I was assuming your porch has a tin or some other sort of metal roof.

Oooh. Then nope, it won't work, it's a shingle roof. We suspect that the wood frame is rotting, or something. I don't know much about roofs, but I'm pretty sure it'll have to be totally replaced. Luckily, the porch is not actually a part of the house roof, so the integrity of the house roof structure shouldn't be compromised. We have no leaks, so...!
Thanks for the insight though.

Yep, I agree. *shrug* But it's my parent's house, and I think they know that. I suspect that it'll get knocked down in the next year or so.
