    Breeding?

Ok. So now I have 6 females and one male lol.

100% Het pied male ( Ready to breed )
50% Het pied female ( 600g not ready does anyone have an idea when she will be? eating 2 adult mice every week or a big rat pup)
    1 female normal thats about 1350g ( I want to breed her =3 )
    1 female normal about 1k
and 2 other females that are below 700g

    1. Is it to late into the season?
    2. What would you recommend i do?
    3. If i breed my normal female to the het pied. Ill get 50% poss het pieds.

I just want to know if its to late into the season. And if so, when does the season start up again?

    Re: Breeding?

If I was you I would get the Het that your feeding mice over to rats ASAP, Ive found that BPs that only eat mice take forever to get up to the big weight. As far as the breeding season goes I dont really know, I have a thread up about it now, but just put 2 you want to breed together for 3-4 days and keep checking on them and see if you see any locks, if so then you should be golden but dont take my word, Im pretty new. Hope that helped!

Depends you only have one female that is ready are you willing to try now or are you willing to wait till this fall..

    Re: Breeding?

Your female is 1,350 grams. She could probably breed, and everything would probably be OK, but she's likely to give you a smallish clutch would be my guess. I have a female about the same size here, and plan to keep conditioning her until the cooling of Autumn, when she should be well over 1,500 grams. That seems to be the trigger point for most of the breeders.

Ball pythons come from places pretty close to the equator. I'd imagine _some_ will breed just about any month of the year - if you put them together and they lock, you're on your way - if not, have you lost anything?

If you breed your normal gal to your 100% het male, then yeah - you'll get 50% possible hets. Good luck trying to sort 'em out! (Best way is to wait a few years, and put 'em with a piebald!)

My $.02 - and you probably deserve change.

    Re: Breeding?

It would be much better to just wait on breeding and mice do perfectly fine in raising snakes up. Whatever she eats with gusto each and every week, feed that. She could probably do a third mouse if you want.

I prefer the females to be at least 1500g if not more. I look at their body type. Short and fat 1500 grams and they can go. Long and thin 1500 grams, then no, I'll wait. Should be about 500g per foot, so a 4ft snake should be around 2000g before I feel comfortable breeding her.
