Thermometer with probe
How do you keep your snake from moving the probe and getting wrapped up in the wire? Would it be ok to put the probe between the heat pad and bottom of tank?

Re: Thermometer with probe
I put the probe on the glass inside the tank, then put a sheet of paper over it. The wire is usually semi-buried in the bedding.

hot glue it to the bottom of the glass. It needs to be inside the enclosure so you know the hottest point the snake can get to.

Re: Thermometer with probe
Well I think my thermostat died. I just happened to look at the temp gage and it said 105. I don't think the top of the bedding was that warm though. This stinks as now it’s back to the heat lamp again.

Was your bp on that side??
105 won't feel too warm to our hands, if that's what you used.
And do you mean your tstat died, or your therm?
How much substrate do you have in there?

Re: Thermometer with probe
I just put new substrate in the tank earlier today. I'm using repti bark and it’s about 1 inch thick. The temp was reading around 94 until about 30 minutes ago. I am using the heat pad shown in the link below. The lowest setting used to keep the temp around 94 deg but not anymore. I have the probe from the acurite placed about in the center of the heat pad. My snake was balled up in the cool side corner so I don’t think the temp bothered it.

Re: Thermometer with probe
What kind of thermostat is this?
The probe is inside the cage?

Buy a temp gun. Best $30.00 investment you will ever make.
