    They actually start off as more of a greyish and black color. The blacks get blacker and the greys turn yellow as the snake reaches maturity. As far as I know, the snake's colors don't lose their brightness with age. Of course, some JCP's yellows are a lot more intense (like Chris's snakes) than others.
