    Question Bumble Bee Dots

I was just wondering about this... I my self like dots in a Bumble Bee rather than none. But now I just started wondering what side of the gene do the dots come from?

Does a DOTed Spider and a clean Pastel make a DOTed Bee?

Does a DOTed Pastel and a clean Spider make a DOTed Bee?

    Which genes dominates the dots?

    Thanx

    It really depends.

I hate dots. I bred for no dots in my Bee... Spotless Spider to Somewhat reduced pattern Pastel.

And he came out covered in spots...

    His name is Spotty McGillicutty

I don't think any one gene will dominate the other like that. I have a buddy that a really ugly pastel(spot wise), that throws the cleanest babys.

    Re: Bumble Bee Dots

Just a shot in the dark ...but I would -think- the pastel usualy contributes more to the dots cause their pattern is far more busier than that of a spider and a pastels patern does in fact have the 'dots' in it, but it could be either one really..depending on what their parents were, some dotted spiders are like that simply cause one of their parents might have been a heavily patterend normal and it just passed down, same with pastels ..some are more 'clean' cause their parents were reduced patterns or something..... but all justa guess I'm by far no master in genetics or anything

    Re: Bumble Bee Dots

I don't know, but I breed for few to no spots with spiders. The only heavily dotted bee or spider I would want would also be a mojave.
What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

    Re: Bumble Bee Dots

I prefer spotless spiders and bees, but there are some spotteds that I wouldn't mind owning either.

    Re: Bumble Bee Dots

I breed for no spot as well got lucky hathching this girl last year (she has 1 spot)

The spider had no spot and the pastel was reduced.

But then again reduced x reduced does not always mean reduced pattern offspring I just got lucky.

    Re: Bumble Bee Dots

Reduced is usually preferred in spders and bees but beauty is the eyes of the beholder
