Re: what is this worth to you?

I recently got a decent male pastel at a local reptile show for 75$, he looks just about the same as those guys

Just kidding. $125 to $150 seems to be a good deal for a higher end pastel, like most have already said.

Perhaps $200 is a bit high (but I don't think so for a higher quality animal), but I know that I will NOT be pricing my bright yellow, super faded head lemons for the same price as the pastels that amost look normal. If that means I have to hang on to them, that's fine with me.

You can go to my site and click on The Nest to see just how bright my lemons are, the first picture in the pastel section is my 3 year old male. If someone appreciates a pastel produced through selective breeding rather than one produced by throwing the sire at any old normal, I have no doubt they'll sell.

Whoa! I would certainly buy your lemon pastels! That is amazing!

I would've definitely paid that much for him too! Don't regret it. Unfortunately, BP's are just more expensive over here.

And that male is worth every penny. As Robin said, you pay for quality. That pastel has unique blushing on that reduced pattern of his, and the colors, even after two years, are noteworthy. It's the uniqueness that commands the price. Ordinary is easy--and cheap.

I'd pay that for him too! I know that there are more people out there that are looking for the BEST examples of the morphs that they can find who are willing to pay to get it. I know that I am willing to, because I don't want to produce run of the mill examples of morphs - I want to produce animals that make people stop and take a second look!

There are a ton more factors with it but I have not heard of orange pastel.
Are you suggesting that sex has some influence on how well a pastel will keep its color? If so, that's the first time I've heard of this and I'd be interested to know more ... Thanks!
