    Help UTH is broken

So I got a zoo med UTH a month ago and checked my BP's tub and the UTH is off. I look and its plugged in and I tried a different outlet and its still off. POS product. Whats a good temporary source of heat I could use. And whats another UTH I could buy. Or that flexwatt stuff I dont even know how to use it though.

    Re: Help UTH is broken

You can order flexwatt from Rich at www.reptilebasics.com. He has super quick shipping times so you wouldn't be waiting for long. He will also pre-wire the flexwatt for you so that all you have to do is plug it in. However if the UTH is only a month old and no longer functioning I would attempt to return it to the store I bought it from. Even if only for store credit.

You MUST us some sort of thermostat or rheostat to control the flexwatt (or any UTH) or risk possible burns to your snake.

    Re: Help UTH is broken

Before you but a new UTH here are a couple things to check. If the UTH was the only thing plugged into the outlet then get another electrical device and plug it in to the outlet that it was plugged into. This should let you know if the outlets are still hot. If they are then your UTH is bad. If the other electrical device doesn't work then your outlets are cold and there could be a couple of reasons for this:

    1) a circuit breaker in the main panel has been tripped and needs to be reset.

    or

    2) Somewhere inside or outside of your house (usually in the garage or outside) there may be an outlet with a small built in circuit breaker. These plugs are designed for heavier applications ie... power tools, lawn tools, etc.
If this outlet is tripped it will cut the power to the plug. Now since most house plugs are wired in sequence, bundles, grids, what ever, what happens is all the outlets wired to that one will also go dead. If that is the case then all you have to do is push the reset button on the outlet with the breaker and it should restore power to all the dead outlets.

Not sure if this helps but maybe...
