Pre Scenting
Just bought my first feeder rat, and am now pre scenting. I was just wondering, how other people do it. Right now, I have this annoying little rat pup in a paper bag on one of the shelves below our tank. Do you think the scent of the rat will seep out of the bag?
Thanks!

Re: Pre Scenting
I put the rats in the room in a 10 gallon aquarium with a screen lid right in front of the racks around night fall for about 30mins to 1hour. Most the time I open the tub and they are sitting there waiting for the rat to hit the aspen.

Not the smartest move putting a live rat in a paper bag. You should buy a small critter keeper, and it will hold the rat without risk of chewing out, and have ventilation.

Yeah, I was worried about that and was watching it like a hawk making sure it didn't chew its way out. I bought it, he put it in the bag and since this is the first feeding, that's the only thing I had. I'll be making something later in the week to be more secure though.

Get a Gladware container and melt a couple air holes in it with a soldering iron. Then duct tape the top shut. Could work.
