just a simple question for a new beginner

new to the python world i keep seeing numbers in front of everyones snakes....
for example: 1.2 bumblebee or 1.0 spider what does the numbers mean? weight?

1.0 is a male and 0.1 is a female

Soooo if you have a 1.3 then that means you have a 1 male and 3 females

The first number is Males.
The second number means Females.
And the third number means You dont know the sex yet.

probably dont, because unless you are going to go into it huge, you most likely wont make any profit or possibly break even. email BHB or RDR just to see if they will give you any rough numbers as to how much it cost just to sustain a snake biz.

Get Several pairs of Morphs like the cheapers ones. Mojave,spider,yellow belly,pastel. Find out which ones when bred with others make certain morphs.
And start mixing it up.
Also buy several female normals. They will speed up the process.
There is a lot of work to breeding reptiles. And the payoff is Excelent. Your best bet is you buy the lower end morphs to start out with then in a couple years work your way up. Also buy or build some racks to house them. I use the Vision racks. Easy to maintain.

The main thing is to do lots of research and ask lots of quetions. People here are very friendly and will help you out.

If you're getting into the reptile world for the money, then you're in the wrong in it for the wrong reason, that's me being straiht forward. Things happen, snakes die, they can die during shipping. Anything can happen and go wrong. Then you have to look at the price you're going to be paying for mice/rats, and if you breed your own, then you have to look at the cost of food, bedding, materials and such.

For one it wouldn't be for the money- i will be retired so it would be a hobby that i am passionate about and if money comes from it then that would be awesome..... i could just see my self 10 years from now having a successful business.... it is just getting there.... i was a business major in college and i am just wanting to get into something i am good at which is sells and the love for herps....
