Python and Boas
Do I really need to keep my pythons and boas in seperate rooms? Or is them being in seperate racks ok?

Re: Python and Boas
Hi,
Well, aside from temps if you were using a set temp system but had animals with a wide variety of different needs, is the reason to keep them seperated disease related?
I refer of course to the dreaded IBD.
I remember reading that some breeders intentionally put a male BP in the room with their boas to try and detect if any had IBD - seems unfair to the lil guy personally but there you go.

Re: Python and Boas
As long as they have been qt'd and have a clean bill of health, I see no issues.

I see no problems in keeping them in the same room as long as there needs are meet.

Ok thats what I thought. I was just reading about how vicious that IBD can be so didnt want to take any chances.

Re: Python and Boas
Hi,
Thats the problem.
IBD can be symptomless in the boas for a long time and you think everything is fine and put them in the same area and all the BP's die in 3 weeks.
The chances are your boas do not have it at all but I would use one snake out of the collection as a canary - especially for those with big or expensive collections.
But since we know so little about IBD and how it can be transmitted I'm not sure what the current advice is.
