Stories of your BP biting you
Let's hear em'! Here's my story of my first BP bite.. if your interested in hearing :
It was feeding day for my female BP, Candice, and she's used to being fed in a separate container. As soon as she gets in there, she KNOWS it's time to eat. I was handling her before she was eating, and I had no scent of the mouse on my hands at all. When the f/t mouse thawed, my mom took it upstairs and into my room to feed her. I took her container out for feeding and I was trying to put her in the container but she was completely wrapped around my hand. I was dumb enough to put my entire hand in the container when I know she'll go into her feeding frenzy. My index finger on my right hand was sticking out so Candice thought that was her weekly meal so she bite me. I gasped, then I pulled back my hand and somehow she was dangling from my shirt, ripping it with her teeth. I immediately grabbed her and tried putting her back in her container, but then she wrapped around my hand again and tried biting my knuckles. I finally wiggled her off of my hand and my mom immediately offered the food. That's my story, so what's yours?

Re: Stories of your BP biting you
I think there was another thread about biting I posted this story in but I'll post it here too. Last October I was reaching in Chopper's tub just to do some spot cleaning like I've done a million times before. Well, The million and first time was the time he decided that he thought my finger was a juicy rat. He not only flew over and bit me but latched on real hard to my finger! He actually let go on his own only a few seconds after he did it, but the damage was done! My finger was bleeding pretty badly and I rushed to the bathroom to stop the bleeding. First thing I did was to make sure he didn't leave any teeth in me. Once I got it under control, I went back in to check on him. He was just curled up in the corner. That was the first time he had ever bitten me or even tried to bite me. I've had him 6 1/2 years now. He sunk into my finger so deep that it actually caused nerve damage. So, he doesn't play around with his food! He means business when he latches on!

Re: Stories of your BP biting you
I never open the lid and just grab the snake, each time I open the tub I let my snake become used to me and it's surroundings. Only after it starts moving I attempt to pick it up. Although, I trying to avoid getting bit by my snake-anything could happen.

Re: Stories of your BP biting you
umm. i use paper towels, and i found a big poopy on the pt. i put my hand in to rip the dirty piece off, and i accidentally bumped my hand towards the bottom of the tub which startled my bp, and well its young so i had 3 pore-sized red dots that bled for seconds lol

I put my hand next to a recently fed snake to fix his hide and boom.

Re: Stories of your BP biting you
I think it's sort of ironic that most of the bite stories so far are from those who feed in separate feeding tubs (usually to supposedly prevent being mistaken for food and being bitten).
I am all for folks feeding whatever method works best for them, but for what it's worth, I feed all mine in their enclosures, and I honestly can't remember the last time I was bitten - it's been a few years now. I wouldn't want to be moving mine on feeding day.
My bites have either been from scared hatchlings or this one big adult that was scooting across the floor quickly and I went to grab her and startled her and she whipped back and hit me with a defensive bite.
