Humid hides VS. Misting (Snakes only)
Just a quick and curious question and poll..As a snake owner what do you prefer for when your snakes are close to shedding..
A. Humid Hide: any form of hide with dampened substrate or paper towel that your snake can go into and out of at it's leisure.
B. Misting/Spraying: Spraying the snake's enclosure when you notice the snake is close to shedding raising the humidity manually.
And what were your results? Better sheds? Worse sheds? Which one worked out for you?
Q: How do you convince a cobra to let you hold it??
A: You don't....
1.2 cornsnakes (Striker, Maize, Artemis) 1.0 crested gecko (Geico) 1.1 Ball Python (Zeus and Hera) 1.0 Thayeri Kingsnake (Blaze)0.3.0 bearded dragons

For my brazilian Rainbow Boa, I do both. He has a VERY wet humid hide, and the tank over all is kept at 80 - 90 % humidity.
For the balls and the carpet, I mist near shedding.

I don't use any humid hides. I've always just misted the enclosure, and it's given me great sheds. I don't feel I need to have a humid hide in the enclosure, the snake does just fine when misting to raise the tank humidity.

I don't use humid hides or mist. I keep the snake room between 60% and 70% humidity all the time and never have any problem with sheds.

I mist. For someone with a few to even alot of ball pythons I think it is just easier that way. You don't have to worry about the humid hides getting moldy or to wet. I think it is just easier that way.
