    Assuming the snakes parents were striped like the baby then it could be that the snakes striped apperance is a genetic thing. Granted it would not be called a genetic stripe but one could say it has a stripe that is genetic. Just figured I would throw that in there in case the friend that sold this snake is actually proved the stripe on this snakes back as genetic.

    he told me genetic as in the parents were stripes and they produced 50% normals and 50% stripes. So would that still be considered genetic or would I have to wait to breed him and see if its genetic?

    It has reduced patterning, but it is not completely reduced - there are still alien eyes in some of the side patterns.

    THIS is a genetic stripe ball python, yours is not what is referred to as the Genetic Stripe mutation:

    The trait may be genetic, but it's not what those in the industry think of when you say "Genetic Striped". The link above shows a true Genetic Striped.

    He's still a very lovely looking snake - I love normals!

    I have a similar looking male that I got as a free snake a while back, I have eggs incubation that I hope prove him out. if not I just think he looks cool:


    That other one looks semi reduced pattern, but like someone else said it does have some alien eyed pattern. Here's a pic of my proven reduced pattern to compair
    Ball pythons: 1.2 pastel, 1.0 Black Pastel 1.0 mojave(green) 0.1 spider, 1.0 het pied, 1.0 het clown, 1.1 het albino, 0.1 pos het albino, 1.0 shatter, 0.2 normals, 0.1 reduced pattern, 0.3 dinkers
    Corn snakes: 1.0 blood, 0.1 het blood, 0.1 snow, 0.0.1 reverse okeetee
    Geckos: 2.1.2 crested gecko, 0.0.1 leopard gecko
    Boas: 1.0.1 sand boas
    Other: 1.1 mini australian shepherd, 2.0 cats
