Boas can make great pets.

I believe they can be more personable and entertaining pets than ball pythons sometimes. I keep both.

On the other hand they can get twice the size of a BP. Which can mean 2-3 times more food and a much larger cage. Minimum full grown cage size for a female = 4'x2' for a Columbian Boa. Do a search on Google for care sheets for boas. There are a lot out there.

Off topic: I personally believe the best pet snake species would be Western Hognose Snakes. They stay small, are not inclined to ever bite and are easy to house and feed. I absolutely love hognose snakes. They are like the drama queens/actors of the reptile world.
